What is it?
Artificial grass is a surface of synthetic fibres made to look like natural grass. Often used in football pitches for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now commonly used on residential property lawns and for commercial projects as well.
How is it made?
Artificial Grass is manufactured using the same methods as carpets. It is created using synthetic materials called:
Polyethylene – which is long-lasting and gentle on the skin.
Polypropylene which lasts long and is more resilient.
Nylon – This is very robust and used in products such as gold driving mats due to its high burn tolerance.
How easy is it to lay?
Artificial Grass is very easy to lay. First steps normally consist of digging out previous soil / grass to a depth of 40mm. The base is then prepared using sharp builders sand then a membrane to prevent weeds from growing. Get in touch with us to discuss your artificial grass project.
How easy is it to upkeep?
Artificial grass is very low maintenance. It does not require watering or cutting like a normal lawn. Brushing is required once a month to keep it fluffy and upright.
